Wedding at Villa Caproni, Vizzola Ticino
Vizzola Ticino, in the Ticino Park
The light blue Fiat 500 comes in from the countryside
The couple arrived in Vizzola in a light blue Fiat 500, and the car stayed in the story: the square, the dirt road between the fields, the veil out of the window.
Then the villa's park, with its wide lawns and tall trees, and in the evening the party under the lights and the sparklers in front of the facade: two opposite lights in the same day.
A wedding at the eighteenth-century villa set in the Ticino Park
Villa Caproni stands in Vizzola Ticino, in the green of the Ticino Park, a short walk from the river. An eighteenth-century residence, it was the home of the Caproni family, the pioneers of Italian aviation: the family crest was a rearing goat, and Gabriele D'Annunzio dedicated to them the motto «Senza cozzar dirocco».
The rooms keep their coffered ceilings, frescoes and original eighteenth-century floors, and seat up to three hundred and fifty guests; outside, the old park gives the wedding room for an outdoor ceremony and for the party until late.
Between a frescoed hall and a lawn this wide, the choice is where to let things happen: I follow the day wherever it goes, and let the rooms find their way into the pictures on their own.
