Wedding at Lake Braies

The water is green and still as a mirror
The lake sits at 1,496 metres, closed in by the walls of the Croda del Becco: early in the morning the water is still and the mountains are mirrored in it whole.
The wooden boats are hired on the shore and in summer they are the only way to be on the water: in the middle of the lake the silence is complete, and the photographs come by themselves.
A wedding on the alpine lake in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park
Lake Braies lies in the municipality of Braies, in the province of Bolzano, at 1,496 metres, inside the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, part of the Dolomites World Heritage Site. Wooden rowing boats are hired on the shore in summer; private boats are not allowed.
Braies is not a venue with halls and kitchens: it is a place, and the wedding comes here for the photographs, on the lake and in the meadows with the huts around.
In the mountains the light changes fast and there are many people about: you work early in the morning, with the boat in the middle of the lake and the paths in the woods, where the noise does not reach.
