The dining room and the terrace cantilevered over the water allow a wedding reception with the lake literally under the guests' feet, in a more intimate setting than the grand hotels of nearby Lake Maggiore, just a few kilometres away.
A wedding suspended over Lake Mergozzo
Piccolo Lago was founded on the shores of Lake Mergozzo by Bruna and Gastone Sacco, who opened a lake-cuisine restaurant here in the 1970s. Their son Marco, in the kitchen since 1983 alongside his wife Lella Marchetti and their children, has carried the same calling forward: telling the story of the lake through freshwater fish, in a place overlooking some of the clearest water in Europe.
Photographing such still water means working with reflections too: I always look for the angle that gives back a mirrored version of the scene, without it becoming an effect for its own sake.
