A wedding lunch suspended over the water

Arriving by boat, mooring at the small jetty, finding yourself among the fishermen's houses: every step already tells you something about the day ahead.

In the evening, as the light fades over the gulf, the island takes on an intimate atmosphere no other venue on the lake can match.

A wedding on the island in the Borromeo Gulf

The Verbano stands on Isola dei Pescatori, the smallest of the Borromean Islands and the only one still inhabited: a handful of houses reachable by boat from the Stresa landing stage, in the heart of the Borromeo Gulf. It has been a holiday retreat since the earliest days of lake tourism, drawing generations of artists, writers and painters captivated by the island's suspended atmosphere.

Since 2022 the kitchen has been led by lake chef Marco Sacco and his family, but for couples who choose it for their wedding, what stays with you most is the natural backdrop: the jetty, the low fishermen's houses and the water surrounding the island on every side, with the other Borromean Islands visible on the horizon.

Arriving by boat is already part of the photographic story: I make a point of documenting this passage too, the moment the rest of the lake falls behind and the day on the island begins.
